Regina (Regina Rosa Burton, AUSTRALIA)

There are a couple of things that don't quite add up. My grandmother was Anna Bujman or Buchman or Bukhman as you spell it. The story I was told by my parents was that the first wife of Ephraim Tuvia passed away in childbirth with her second child. The two girls I was told were Dora and newly born Manuella or Mina as she was known in Israel. Tuvia was left alone with these small children so his boss at the Jewish newspaper where he worked as a Typesetter, Jacob Buchman, arranged a marriage with his own daughter Anna. They also had two daughters, Cecilia (my Mother) and Sophia or Shifra (Effi's Mother). I was also told the four girls were raised together as sisters and did not find out they were two sets of half sisters until they were adults. Also there should be a second set of marriage certificates for Tuvia and Anna in Buenos Aires Argentina. This was due to the loss of a valise overboard on their ocean voyage to Buenos Aires. When their daughters Manuella and Cecilia were going to be married they required proof of birth which was also lost so Tuvia and Anna were re-married civilly and then listed their 4 daughters on their ID books. This was enough for the girls to marry. Manuella married Issac Barsky (later known in Israel as Mina and Issac Ben Tzvi) and Cecilia married Hermann Goldbarth in a double ceremony in Buenos Aires on the 18th of March 1944. These were my parents who together with myself ad a younger brother migrated to Australia in 1960 I would be interested to see what you can make of this information which has been passed on to me. Regards, Regina Burton, Brisbane Australia
